Neck Lift – Cosmetic Surgical Procedure By Dr. Craig Jonov, Seattle WA Neck Lift Cosmetic Procedure
Neck lifts address sagging jowls, often referred to as “turkey neck.” Beauty is all about proportions, and your jawline has a lot to do with the perceived symmetry of your face. If loose, hanging skin obscures the lines of your chin or neck, then a neck lift might be the perfect procedure for you.
The issues that cause skin to sag are many and varied. Although the aging process is the most common culprit, the health of your skin and drastic changes in overall body weight can also leave neck skin and muscles slack. Our job is to identify the best treatment for your particular goals. It may involve repositioning tissues, tightening muscles, adding tissue volume or some combination of the three.
A neck lift begins with a small incision near the hairline, behind the ear. The exact location of the incision changes from patient to patient, taking into account the location of the hairline and distance from the ears, with the overall goal being to conceal the scar and maintain the integrity of the hairline.
Through that incision, we are able to reposition or remove any loose tissue that rests just below the jawline and increase the volume of tissue where appropriate. This process aims to uncover the youthful angles of your neck and jaw that have been concealed by the aging process.
If we determine that the muscle bands located under the chin need to be smoothed, we make another small incision just below the jaw. Like the first incision, the second is strategically placed to leave any scarring less visible.
Once the healing process is complete, your mirror will reflect a neck with smoother contours and a more distinct jawline that serves to frame the face in a visually appealing way
